Oil Painting Studio with Pooja Campbell

Shadows are rarely just gray, brown, or black. In this oil painting class, we’ll look closely at the unexpected color that appears within shadow and learn how surrounding light changes what we see.

Working from a simple still life under directional light, students will explore warm and cool shadows, reflected color, subtle value shifts, and how to mix rich darks without relying on black. The focus will be on seeing color more carefully and using it to create depth, atmosphere, and a greater sense of light.

Beginners and experienced painters are welcome.

Held upstairs in the Easel Room

This is a guided oil painting studio session designed for those who want to develop their painting skills through thoughtful instruction and consistent practice. Each session explores a different subject, concept, or technique, allowing returning students to continue building their skills while new students can join at any time.

This is not a sip and paint experience. Instruction focuses on understanding the fundamentals of oil painting, strengthening observation skills, and helping each student grow at their own pace. With classes limited to 8 students, there is plenty of time for individual guidance and feedback.

Most students have some previous drawing or painting experience, but beginners are welcome. If you are completely new to art or painting, Pooja will provide a modified assignment designed to introduce the medium in a way that feels approachable while building the skills needed for future classes.

Whether you’re looking to establish a regular painting practice or continue developing your technique, this class offers a supportive and inspiring environment to learn.
